Registration of integrated circuits
Introduction
An integrated circuit refers to a circuit that is integrated by a semiconductor, that is, an intermediate product or a final product that uses a semiconductor material as a substrate, at least one of which is an active component, and some or all of the interconnection lines are integrated in or on the substrate to perform an electronic function. Generally speaking, it is a layout design that determines the geometric arrangement and connections of electronic components used to make integrated circuits in a conductive material.
Application Period
Once the creation of a layout design is completed, an application for registration can be filed with the State Intellectual Property Office. However, a layout design should be registered with the State Intellectual Property Office within two years from the date of its first commercial use anywhere in the world at the latest. If the application for registration is not submitted to the State Intellectual Property Office within the period, the State Intellectual Property Office will no longer register it.
Duration of protection
The period of protection of the exclusive right of layout design of integrated circuits is 10 years, starting from the date of application for registration of the layout design or the date of first commercial exploitation anywhere in the world, whichever is earlier.
